Who this is for: This class (6 weeks of 1.5-hr classes) is for students who can already handle everyday situations in Chinese, like ordering at a restaurant, seeing a doctor, asking for directions, renting an apartment and traveling, and are ready to move from sentences to longer, more natural conversations. That’s usually about two years of study, around HSK 3. You don’t need to have used Integrated Chinese before. It is a small, conversation-focused group class where you will get frequent feedback and speaking practice. (Not sure if this is the right level for you? Forming now: This is a new group. Indicate in this form the days and times that work for you, and we’ll let you know as soon as it starts.

Class Size: 3 to 6 students. We cap classes at 6 students to ensure everyone gets plenty of speaking time. (Note: Classes require a minimum of 3 enrolled students to run. In the rare event a class does not meet the minimum, you will receive a full refund or a transfer to another time).

What you will learn:

• Everyday Life in Depth: Starting a new semester, dorm and apartment life, dining out, shopping and returns, choosing classes, and part-time work.

• Bigger Topics: Dating and relationships, the internet and technology, and education in China.

• Longer Conversations: Moving from single sentences to connected paragraphs: describing, comparing, giving opinions with reasons, and telling stories.

• Reading & Characters: Longer texts, wider character recognition, and continued typing practice for everyday digital communication.

Materials: We use Integrated Chinese Vol 3, starting from Lesson 1, and the class continues block by block through the volume. Digital learning materials are included with your registration. You can also purchase a new textbook and workbook set directly from us with a $20 discount after signing up for the course.
